Vanja Josifovski is the Chief Technology Officer, Homes at Airbnb where he leads efforts around developing the technical vision and direction across the Homes business. Vanja was most recently CTO at Pinterest, where he was responsible for setting the technical strategy of the company in areas like machine learning and search, as well as managing the Applied Discovery engineering team. Prior to this role, he held positions as the Head of Discovery, Ads Engineering, and Growth Engineering. Before joining Pinterest, Vanja worked on large scale machine learning and information extraction as a Technical Lead at Google Research. His career began with roles at Yahoo Research and IBM Research. Vanja holds a PhD in large scale database systems.




Hilary Mason is the General Manager for Machine Learning at Cloudera and the founder of Fast Forward Labs, an applied machine learning research and advisory company that was acquired by Cloudera in 2017. Hilary is also the Data Scientist in Residence at Accel Partners and is on the board of the Anita Borg Institute. Previously, she co-founded HackNY.org, a non-profit that helps engineering students find opportunities in New York's creative technical economy, served on Mayer Bloomberg's Technology Advisory Council, and was the Chief Scientist at Bitly.

As EVP & CTO of Microsoft, Kevin Scott’s 20-year career in technology spans both academia and industry as a researcher, engineer, and leader. Scott helps drive the technical vision that enables Microsoft to achieve its mission.


Prior to Microsoft, Scott was SVP of engineering and operations at LinkedIn, where he helped build the technology and engineering team and led the company through an IPO and six years of rapid growth. Scott also oversaw mobile ads engineering at Google, including the integration of Google’s $750 million acquisition of AdMob, where he was responsible for engineering and operations of the world’s leading platform for mobile monetization.


A recipient of a Google Founder’s Award, Scott has also received an Intel Ph.D. Fellowship, and an Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) Recognition of Service award. Scott is the host of the podcast, Behind the Tech, which features interviews with technology heroes who have helped create the tech industry of today.




Swami Sivasubramanian is VP at AWS in charge of all Amazon AI and Machine learning initiatives. His team’s mission is “To put machine learning capabilities in the hands on every developer and data scientist.” For more details on click here  and here.


Previously, Swami used to manage AWS’s NoSQL and big data services. He managed the engineering, product management and operations for core AWS database services that are the foundational building blocks for AWS: DynamoDB, Amazon ElastiCache (in-memory engines), Amazon QuickSight, SimpleDB and a few other big data services in the works.


Swami has been awarded more than 250 patents, authored around 40 referred scientific papers and journals, and participate in several academic circles and conferences. In addition to these, he also built more than 30 AWS Cloud Services like CloudFront, Amazon RDS, Amazon S3, Amazon's Paxos based lock service, original Amazon Dynamo etc. He was also one of the main authors for Amazon Dynamo paper  along with Werner Vogels, which received the ACM Hall of Fame award. Andrew W. Moore, PhD, is a distinguished computer scientist with expertise in machine learning and robotics. He became the Head of Google Cloud Artificial Intelligence in January 2019. Moore previously worked at Google from 2006 to 2014 and was the founding director of Google’s Pittsburgh engineering office in 2006. He then spent a four-year hiatus at Carnegie Mellon University as the dean of the School of Computer Science. Andrew’s research interests encompass the field of “big data” — applying statistical methods and mathematical formulas to massive quantities of information.

Franziska Bell is the Head of Data Science Platforms at Uber, where she founded the Anomaly Detection, Forecasting Platform and Natural Language Platform teams. Before Uber, Franziska was a Postdoc at Caltech where she developed a novel, highly accurate approximate quantum molecular dynamics theory to calculate chemical reactions for large, complex systems, such as enzymes. Franziska earned her Ph.D. in theoretical chemistry from UC Berkeley focusing on developing highly accurate, yet computationally efficient approaches which helped unravel the mechanism of non-silicon-based solar cells and properties of organic conductors.

Pedro Alves is the founder and CEO of Ople, Inc., a company that uses AI to build AI. Alberto Lopez Toledo is the Chief Technology Officer and technical co-founder of Freshly where he oversees the technology and data science teams. Anil Kamath is a web and technology entrepreneur. At Adobe, he is responsible for data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence in the Adobe Experience cloud. He was founder and primary architect of Efficient Frontier, a leading digital ad buying platform that managed more than $2B in advertising spend, until its acquisition by Adobe. Prior to that Anil, founded an ecommerce company call eBoodle that was acquired by Shopzilla and grew to become the largest comparison-shopping company with more than 14 million active users. He has also held leadership positions at DE Shaw and received a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University and a B.Tech in Computer Science from IIT Bombay. Brad Klingenberg is the VP of Algorithms at Stitch Fix, an online personal styling service that commits to its recommendations by physically delivering inventory to clients. Brad and his team use statistics, machine learning and human-in-the-loop algorithms to optimize the Stitch Fix client experience, the management of inventory and the selection of items for clients. Ameen Kazerouni moved from Mumbai, India to start his Bachelors in Computer Science at 16. After developing a keen interest in both AI and Medicine he proceeded to start his Ph.D. in Biomedical Informatics at Emory University. His research covered wrangling data from Whole Slide Images, pathology reports and clinical data to build datasets for cohort discovery and analysis. During his tenure at Emory, he decided to do a short internship at Zappos to see what life was like outside the ivory tower. He decided to leave the Ph.D. program early, earning a Masters in Computer Science with a focus in Machine Learning.

With over 20 years of experience in computer vision, his expertise includes large scale visual search, coarse and fine-grained visual recognition, object detection, computer vision for fashion, 3D cues from 2D images, figure-ground segmentation and deep learning for vision, among other topics. Before joining eBay in 2011, he received his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Michigan in 2000 specializing in information theory and statistical image processing. Albert Chan, M.D., M.S., FAAFP, as Vice President, Chief of Digital Patient Experience at Sutter Health, is the corporate champion for the transformation of web and mobile health care services, translating the latest advancements in digital health into consumer-centric patient experiences and digitally empowered clinician workflows. He also leads the Sutter Health My Health Online initiative. He practices in Family Medicine at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. Dr. Chan earned a bachelor's degree with honors in Biological Sciences from Stanford University and a medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He completed his residency and year as chief resident in family medicine at the San Jose Medical Center Family Practice Residency, affiliated with Stanford University of School of Medicine. He concurrently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Biomedical Informatics at Stanford University School of Medicine and Family Medicine Research at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, studying the effects of point of care decision support in the management of hypertension. During fellowship, Dr. Chan also assisted with the launch of PAMFOnline, now Sutter's My Health Online, one of the earliest PHRs in the United States.

PD has 18 years of experience in building high performance AI systems in varied enterprise areas, such as healthcare, CRM and productivity apps. He built multiple startups and corporate R&D teams, and worked at Microsoft research for nine years – part of which was spent managing the deep learning team. His past work includes an automated retail stores startup, a predictive system for patient readmissions and founding some of the first intelligent mobile apps and NLP components for Microsoft Office. He built a new business group focused on “AI for sales and marketing” with a multibillion dollar impact to Microsoft. PD earned an M.S. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2003 and holds multiple patents.

He is a professor of computer science at the University of Michigan where he directs Clarity Lab, one of the top labs in the world to be trained in A.I. and system design. Jason has devoted his career to solving difficult real-world problems with A.I., computer vision, and natural language processing at scale. Lori has more than 20 years of experience in the field of advanced analytics and decision science as an adviser, practitioner and entrepreneur. Prior to joining Bain in 2014, Lori co-founded and led McKinsey’s Insurance Solutions which designs, builds and deploys analytics solutions across the customer value chain. Lori honed her decision science experience as General Manager of the Enterprise Management division at FICO, a global analytics software and services company, and as Chief Strategy and New Applications Development Officer at RMS, a leading catastrophe risk modeling company

Animashree (Anima) Anandkumar joined NVIDIA as director of machine learning research in 2018. She is also a Bren professor at Caltech CMS department since 2017. Her research spans both theoretical and practical aspects of  machine learning. In particular, she has spearheaded research in tensor-algebraic methods, large-scale learning, deep learning, probabilistic models, and non-convex optimization. 

Anima is the recipient of several awards such as the Alfred. P. Sloan Fellowship, NSF Career Award, Young investigator awards from the Air Force and Army research offices, Faculty fellowships from Microsoft, Google and Adobe, and several best paper awards. She is the youngest named professor at Caltech, the highest honor bestowed to an individual faculty. Anima received her B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Madras in 2004 and her PhD from Cornell University in 2009.
